Rabbi Dr. Danny Schiff has been our spiritual leader since 1993. In addition to his rabbinical duties, he is the JewishEducation Institute Community Scholar in Pittsburgh. Born in Sydney, Australia, Rabbi Schiff grew up in Melbourne. He graduated with a B.A., majoring in Philosophy and Psychology, from the University of Melbourne in 1981. Rabbi Schiff received his ordination, as well as Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters degree, from The Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion (H.U.C. - J.I.R) in 1987. He received his Doctor of Hebrew Letters degree from H.U.C. - J.I.R in 2000. Rabbi Schiff has published a substantial number of articles, particularly in the field of Jewish law. His forthcoming book, Abortion in Judaism, is to be published by Cambridge University Press. Rabbi Schiff is married to Anne Schiff. They have a son, David, and a daughter, Adina.
